Why won’t Rodney Dangerfield’s old place sell? The spacious three-bedroom owned by the late comic has river views from nearly every room and an expensively renovated interior, says listing broker Victoria Shtainer. Yet it’s been sitting on the market for 298 days as of press time, according to Streeteasy.com, and has had two price cuts. (According to city records, Dangerfield’s firm, Robroy Inc., bought it in 1988 for an undisclosed sum. Dangerfield lived here through the nineties with his second wife, Joan Child, just a few blocks up from his eponymous Upper East Side club.) Is this a final dis of the legendarily respect-free comic? More likely, the schizophrenic market, where eight-figure properties are snapped up while the rest depend on the whims of increasingly hesitant buyers, is to blame.
